Van Morrison will release the live CD Astral Weeks: Live At The Hollywood Bowl on February 10th. The set -- recorded live over two nights at the Hollywood Bowl this past November 7th and 8th -- is an in-concert performance of his 1968 gold-certified solo album. The project is also the first to be released on Morrison's new EMI-distributed label, Listen to the Lion Records. A DVD version of the title will be available later.
The concerts were the first time that Morrison performed the complete Astral Weeks live in an extended arrangement.
"These songs are timeless and as fresh today as the day they were written, actually even more so," Morrison said in a statement. "I was happy to perform them at the Hollywood Bowl and delighted to release a live album which really captures the essence of the original for today's audiences with every taste in music. It's got it all, jazz, blues, folk, classic. You name it."
Morrison will perform his special Astral Weeks show again when he comes to our area on February 27th and 28th at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
